Inheriting a Deleted Ticket

Oh Hyeonju deleted the ticket.
The queue went clean.
Three seconds later, the same ticket came back to the top.
This time a daycare center address was attached.
At 2:51, Yuna stood an offline phone upright on the right side of the admin console. The screen showed the first line of three pump station tickets. There were already two addresses.
`Northwest No. 4 Pressure Pump Station / Hanbit Apartments, Building 103, Unit 1204`
In the handler field, one character remained: "Seo." The cushioned radio that had come out from under the fifth chair was still left outside the yellow tape. No one had picked it up or attached an owner to it.
Hyeonju rested her cursor on the delete button and said, "Let's define terms first. Deletion isn't a resolution, it's an admin queue reset. What we need to verify now is whether the same identifier regenerates after the reset."
Seoha didn't loosen the laces on her field safety boots. "We already have evidence that the cost transfers to the next facility."
"The added address is a correlation. To link it to the deletion action, we need one controlled execution."
"Are you making that one execution a civilian address?"
Hyeonju turned the question back into an audit statement. "If we don't execute, record the risk that remains for the current team and for Hanbit Apartments as well."
Yuna watched the screen between the two of them. She couldn't know the outcome of a deletion just from the feeling that Hyeonju was wrong. But she also couldn't hide the next person as a test subject.
"Three conditions." Yuna said. "Keep the original offline before deletion. Stamp the deletion time on two different clocks. If it comes back, don't erase the increased entries."
Hyeonju didn't approve right away. "What counts as an offline original?"
"The printer's temporary memory and the paper impression. Screen capture is secondary."
"Who guarantees recoverability?"
"I don't guarantee it. I'll write down the possibility of failure too."
Hyeonju called Yuna by name for the first time. "I'm recording Kim Yuna's conditions alongside the log."
Mijin stood behind the admin console and positioned herself at an angle where she could watch the entrance and the fifth chair at the same time. She almost sent Seoha out the door, then stopped. "Seoha, just for the moment of deletion, staying away from the screen would be, "
"If you isolate me, I won't be able to see how my handler fragment moves."
Mijin didn't lock the entrance. She handed Seoha a shift schedule sheet. "Then we watch the judgment together, but keep your hands off the console."
Hyeonju entered her rank and employee number into the responsibility field. She didn't enter a person's name. Yuna adjusted the angle so the admin screen, the phone clock, and the wall clock all fit into one frame. She didn't send a new print command to the printer, to keep the current memory from being overwritten.
2:51:33.
Hyeonju pressed delete.
The first ticket disappeared. The second and third didn't shift up. All three lines vanished at once, and the queue count dropped to zero. The "Seo" in the handler field disappeared too.
The center's lighting returned to normal brightness. The wall clock's second hand moved evenly again. The impression on the fifth chair's cushion slowly rose back up. The indicator light on the cushioned radio outside the yellow tape went dark.
The clean screen looked like relief.
Yuna read the timer. One second. Two seconds.
Three seconds.
The same identifier appeared at the top of the queue.
The addresses had grown to three lines.
`Northwest No. 4 Pressure Pump Station`
`Hanbit Apartments, Building 103, Unit 1204`
`Saebom Daycare Center, basement water supply room`
The description field also gained one more line.
`One child remains inside`
A young voice played briefly over the speaker. It wasn't a song or crying. It was a sentence memorized during safety education.
"If the lights go out, hold your teacher's hand and, "
The voice cut off midway. Yuna didn't press play again. There was no reason to replay it like cheap horror. Instead she wrote down the first playback time, 2:51:36, and the playback length, 1.7 seconds.
The "Seo" in the handler field had grown by two more characters, to "Seoha."
Hyeonju's hand came off the mouse. She didn't apologize. In the first line of the deletion log, she entered her own execution time and the number of added addresses.
"Two addresses before deletion. Three addresses after. One description added. Responsibility lies with my administrative execution."
Seoha said, "You just added the description and the cost onto the next in queue and passed it on."
"That's what the current observation shows." Hyeonju answered, looking at the screen. "I'm converting deletion into a prohibited action."
She didn't make excuses for the button she'd pressed, and at the same time she didn't dodge responsibility by blaming the anomaly for controlling her. Yuna wrote that sentence down next to the original too.
The online deletion log had already started cleaning itself up. The "Administrative execution" entry changed to "Automatic duplicate removal." Hyeonju tried to block the update from the console, but the permissions window grayed out and closed.
"Recovering it now." Yuna moved toward the printer.
Mijin asked, "What about the trash?"
"Same screen as the admin log. It gets cleaned up together."
Yuna didn't turn off the printer's power. If she cut power during memory cleanup, even the temporary data could disappear. She emptied the output tray and opened the small inspection cover next to the roller. The handle was hot. She pulled her bare hand back and put on insulated gloves.
Just then, an automatic normal-operations report got pulled into the feed slot. One new printout could push out the oldest temporary slot. Instead of pulling the paper out, Yuna pressed the feed-release lever inside the inspection cover. The roller stopped with half a sheet swallowed, and motor heat rose through the glove.
Hyeonju released the print targets one by one from her own admin screen. Mijin marked the impression lines on the half-eaten paper with a pencil. The report was damaged, but the pressure traces of the slot before deletion and the next sheet survived. Yuna kept her gloved hand on the lever and said, "Zero new printouts from now on. If recovery fails, keep this paper as an original too."
The printer had left the last ten output rasters in a temporary slot. Not letters, but an arrangement of dots to be stamped on paper. It couldn't be searched like a screen log. Yuna read only the slot number and byte count in diagnostic mode.
"This isn't hacking. I'm just looking for output fragments that haven't been overwritten yet."
Dowon knocked the handle of a rubber mallet against the floor beside the printer. "How much is left?"
"One more printout comes in and one slot gets pushed out. We're at the sixth slot now."
Hyeonju stopped the automatic report output on the admin console. "I'll block new print commands. Slot recovery proceeds by Kim Yuna's judgment."
Yuna didn't print the slot directly onto paper right away. The printer could change the address at the moment of output. First she read the dot arrangement of the temporary data on an offline laptop, then transcribed the hash onto paper by hand. Mijin held a still-blank sheet of original paper up to the light. There were impression marks left on the next sheet from the previous printout's pressure.
One line was the length of "Northwest No. 4 Pressure Pump Station." There was no impression the length of the second address. That meant there had been a moment when the printer's memory held only the single pump station address, before the deletion.
Yuna recovered the sixth slot as a low-resolution dot image.
`Received address: Northwest No. 4 Pressure Pump Station`
Below the deletion time, an order of active contract facilities was attached.
`Next contract: Saebom Daycare Center water supply and alarm maintenance`
Hanbit Apartments was an address that had wedged itself in between. When the deletion happened, one next-contract facility got attached, and the civilian address already attached remained too. The risk transfer didn't look random. It was a seed that piled description and cost along the order of contracts. Still, it was only one case so far.
Yuna didn't title the document "Deletion Rule."
She wrote, "Observation from one deletion: addresses +1, description +1."
Hyeonju looked down at the screen. "This original is unfavorable for the normal-operations rate report."
"It's favorable for the next shift worker."
"It could be unfavorable for your contract evaluation."
Yuna thought of her letter of recommendation and her contract end date. If she kept a clean queue screenshot, she could at least cover up the work failure. But the next night shift might not know that the delete button attaches one more facility, and could repeat the same thing.
"I'm keeping the original. Under my account."
Hyeonju didn't stop her. "Record the party making the judgment and the expected disadvantage together."
Yuna put her employee number, her contract grade T-0, the possibility of recovery failure, and the time limit before the next printout into the first paragraph. She was handing an unfavorable record to the next person, but not turning it into an anonymous, unaccountable tip.
The printer suddenly printed out a line.
Yuna didn't grab the paper while it was halfway out. She let the roller push it all the way through. What was stamped on the paper wasn't the daycare center, but a job title.
`Northwest No. 4 Pressure Pump Station, night guard`
Just as a person's name was about to print below it, Yuna laid a black sheet of paper over it to cover only the name. She didn't tear up the original.
Dowon picked up his dispatch bag. "Pump station first. If the guard is real, there's no time."
Mijin stepped in front of Seoha. "The handler name is up to two characters now. Seoha, you need to stay at the center."
"If I stay, Dowon goes alone."
"This isn't isolation, it's role separation." Mijin's tone hardened into a report register.
Seoha spread out the shift schedule. "Then let's share the risk information too. Two on site, two at the center. On site, check the valve and the guard. At the center, monitor ticket status and the daycare notice. If even one of the four roles breaks down, we pull out."
Mijin didn't fill out the schedule in Seoha's place. She asked Yuna first. "Can you handle both the original and the civilian notice at the center?"
Yuna straightened her wrist against the pull of the keyboard cable. "Not alone. If you take the phone calls, Chief, it's possible."
Mijin nodded. She didn't treat staying behind as something inferior. "I'll handle the civilian notice. Yuna, you handle the original. Manager Hyeonju, you're the deletion log witness."
Instead of a signature, Hyeonju wrote her administrative execution number next to her role. "I'll handle the deletion ban and confirming the order of contract facilities."
Dowon checked the rubber mallet, the manual water level gauge, and the radio he'd been temporarily issued. Seoha packed her safety boots, the offline clock, and Nam Sangho's field photo. The two of them stated their items and next moves and exchanged confirmation signals at the door.
Mijin's employee badge and Yuna's keyboard remained at the center. On the shift schedule, three branches, field, original, and civilian contact, were written in three different handwritings.
The description field on the pump station ticket grew again.
`Underground safety broadcast, autoplay`
Just before Dowon opened the front door, the first line of the children's safety broadcast played over the radio.
"One child remains inside."
This time the recording came not from the center speaker, but from the field line toward the pump station.
Seoha went out the door with Dowon.
Yuna placed the queue that had never truly gone clean, along with the recovered original, at the top of the next shift's folder.
