Three Server Trucks

The server was split across three trucks.
Sera blocked the road, Taeho opened it, and Mina said they were both wrong.
Dojin didn't get the last word this time.
On Jang Mina's dashboard, refrigerated vans A and B and document truck C were running in a triangle. Two seventeen in the morning. All three vehicles passed through three different exits of the outer ring road at exactly the same speed.
The problem was that every truck was getting the same announcement.
The driver and passenger are secret spouses. Voluntarily yield the route for the other vehicle.
The drivers of the three trucks didn't even know each other. Every time the announcement played, the truck in front cleared a lane and the truck behind filled it. No feelings developed. Only the routes started dating.
Mina attached brackets to the three maps.
A (route anomaly 62 percent).
B (too normal to be normal, 51 percent).
C (document truck colder than a refrigerated van. Discomfort 100 percent, evidence 0).
A notification came through on Hyeonju's temporary command screen: Sera had finished her restricted return checkup. Right arm immobilized, no direct engagement, command and status reporting permitted. Eunha's rest timer had also ended by then. Sera confirmed the conditions for returning command and got her authority token back.
"Block A at the north gate. Open the east lane for B. Checkpoint C at the south."
Taeho objected. "If we block A, four civilian vehicles behind it get caught in the role broadcast. We need to open the north gate."
"If we open it, A slips into the outer warehouse district."
"If we block it, a civilian car takes its place instead."
Mina overlaid both of their routes. Sera's blockade would catch the truck but push the rumor role back onto the trucks behind. Taeho's opening would save the civilian cars but lose the original.
"Cancel both."
Sera asked, curtly. "Basis."
"We're wrong about which truck is the real server. The routes are the decoy. Let me check transmission lag."
All three trucks were broadcasting the same sentence, but the gap between the broadcast and the forced role differed. A: 0.11 seconds. C: 0.09 seconds. Only B was 0.83 seconds. The sentence itself wasn't delayed. Before every broadcast, B was reading and verifying the source token from an external storage device.
"B is the likely original. 74 percent."
"Confirmed?" Hyeonju asked.
"No. Same pattern as an original-read delay. Just points at the vehicle number."
Taeho zoomed in on B's wheel footage. "The rear axle's sitting four centimeters lower. Heavier than refrigerated cargo. And there are two cooling exhausts. One for the cargo bed, one for a server power unit."
Taeho overlaid the fuel records too. A and C had shut their engines off before departure, but B had run its engine nonstop for six hours. If it were really a refrigerated truck, that would have been a stretch where it switched to external power. Mina added fuel consumption as an independent factor and recalculated it alongside transmission lag and cargo weight.
Mina raised the probability. "83 percent."
"My contribution's 9 percent?"
"9 including margin of error. Save the bragging for after we seal it."
Sera changed the order of the blockade. She opened the lanes ahead of A and C to clear the civilian cars first, and instead of stopping B, guided it into a closed cargo inspection loop. The loop had no sudden-stop sections and only one exit.
"Send B's driver the options. Stay on current route, safety inspection at the loop, or pull over at the nearest rest stop. No forced stop."
Hyeonju revised the wording. "Attach the reason for inspection and the expected 7-minute delay. Also add that they're under no obligation to follow the relationship announcement."
Mina sent it.
Four seconds later, the driver chose the safety inspection at the loop. The passenger made the same choice separately. The fact that their answers matched didn't make them a couple.
A's driver chose to stay on the current route, and C's driver chose to pull over at the nearest rest stop. Because the three trucks weren't stopped all at once, four civilian cars following behind slipped out of the role broadcast's range. Mina attached each driver's choice next to the vehicle triangle separately. Receiving the same rumor didn't obligate anyone to the same behavior.
Once B entered the loop, A and C's broadcasts got louder.
Do not abandon your secret spouse. The real original is in the other vehicle.
Sera didn't chase A. Taeho didn't block C either. While the two trucks pulled away toward the outskirts, Mina kept watching the signal lag. A and C stopped broadcasting the instant B entered the loop. That was the moment the decoy's job ended.
At the exit of the inspection loop, two of Taeho's vehicles held their distance front and back. Instead of blocking the road, he left one empty return lane open. A path B's driver could take if they changed their mind.
Sera radioed. "No contact. Opening the cargo bed is the driver's choice. Server presence unconfirmed."
The driver got out. "We were only told it was refrigerated promotional equipment. Opening the cargo bed would violate the contract."
Hyeonju received the original contract. "We won't hide the possibility of disadvantage. You don't have to open it. Instead, will you consent to an external thermal imaging inspection, with the engine left running?"
The driver and passenger each consented separately.
The thermal image showed two distinct heat sources inside the refrigerated bed. One was a normal cooling unit, the other an independent power module. Combined with the cargo weight, Taeho raised the server probability to 91 percent.
Mina held the number at 91. "Still not confirmed as the original."
Inside the cargo bed, an incineration countdown started.
90 seconds until the original token is destroyed.
The vehicle broadcast displayed one last relationship line.
Baek Dojin retrieves the token himself to save his secret lover.
Dojin had already arrived at the loop, confirmed at a blood sugar recheck of 86, meal completed, and one hour past his work refusal window. When he read the line, his correction screen opened on its own.
Switching the token retriever from Baek Dojin to Jang Mina would have been the fastest option. The rumor role could force a new role even without the driver's consent to open the cargo bed. Dojin didn't draft the correction.
"Correction declined."
Sera asked. "Alternative."
"The original token is Mina's authority. No one retrieves it without opening consent."
Countdown: 71 seconds.
The driver saw the incineration warning. "If I kill the engine, does it stop?"
Taeho answered. "Don't know. It's on independent power, it might actually speed up instead."
Mina pulled up the list of external ports. There was a maintenance port that could copy the token's sealed hash without opening the cargo bed. The contents couldn't be viewed, but it could leave proof that the original had existed before it was destroyed.
"Two options. Open the cargo bed and physically seal the original token, or use the external port to secure only the hash and risk losing the original to incineration. The first risks a contract violation. The second risks losing the evidence's contents."
The driver and passenger answered separately.
"External port first."
"Same for me."
Mina connected a read-only sealer to the port. Taeho matched the cable length to the vehicle's movement, Sera cleared a path so no one could approach the cargo bed, and Hyeonju logged the time of each driver's decision.
The sealer's cable was only four meters long, so it had to move alongside B, whose engine was still running, at three kilometers per hour. Taeho pushed the sealer, Sera hooked a pursuit vehicle to it to form an empty half circle. The driver handled the wheel, the passenger handled the port, Mina handled the dashboard. If one motion broke, the copy would break with it.
Countdown: 43 seconds.
Hash copy: 28 percent.
PR-LEGACY-00 accessed Mina's dashboard. An unfamiliar cursor moved toward the cancel button. Instead of pushing the cursor out, Mina locked her own control authority to read-only. Even the cancel button stayed frozen on the sealed screen.
Hash copy: 61 percent.
Dojin's correction screen was still open. One sentence would have been enough to cut the cursor off. He didn't raise his hand.
"Mina's call stands."
So that wouldn't turn into an order either, Dojin locked only his own correction authority.
Countdown: 17 seconds.
Hash copy: 100 percent.
The maintenance port displayed an unexpected second choice.
Transfer the original token to the external sealer? Internal copy will be automatically destroyed upon transfer.
The driver asked. "If I transfer it, is that a contract violation?"
Hyeonju didn't manufacture an answer she couldn't confirm. "The contract has no clause on external transfer. There's a possible violation. But if you don't choose now, the internal copy will be incinerated in 12 seconds."
"Do I choose?"
"Yes."
The driver pressed transfer on their own terminal without looking at the passenger. The passenger only accepted the witness record.
Countdown: 8 seconds.
The original token moved to the sealer.
At one second, the internal copy vanished.
Mina disconnected the sealer's power. Original token hash, generation time 05:40, copy time 22:17, official account's reserved signature. The pre-edit record stayed together as one bundle.
Two access entities were linked to the token.
PR-LEGACY-00.
Co-signature 7C-19, not on the official staff list.
There was no identity, no stated purpose. All that was confirmed was that it belonged to the same approval chain as the redacted co-signature on the wage garnishment order.
Mina decided the scope of disclosure. Original content, driver's name, vehicle number, and the co-signature's raw text: private. Official account token hash, generation and copy times, and validity of the reserved signature: public. The existence of PR-LEGACY-00 and 7C-19: public, but the meaning of their connection: pending.
She created a public verification copy separate from the sealed original. Clicking the hash showed only a green marker confirming the official account's reserved signature was valid, along with the 05:40 generation and 22:17 copy times. There was no search bar for looking up personal names.
The projected view count next to the publish button had passed five million. This time she didn't turn the number off. Before the view count, she pinned the disclosure conditions to the top of the screen.
Public: Existence of the official account's token, hash, timestamps, reserved signature verification.
Private: Raw token content, driver and vehicle, raw co-signature text.
Unconfirmed: Identity of the author, motive for posting, relationship between PR-LEGACY-00 and 7C-19.
Mina pressed publish. Three citizen verification terminals and two press archives independently confirmed the same hash. The Coordination Bureau's official account pushed back, calling it "an edit of unknown origin," but it couldn't erase the valid marker on its own reserved signature.
The claim that the first incident could be explained away as nothing but a civilian romantic misunderstanding collapsed right there. No one knew who had made it, but the official account's pre-edit token had become a public record.
"This proves the Coordination Bureau posted it," Dojin said.
"Only that the official account's token existed." Mina cut him off immediately. "Who posted it and why is still open."
"Fair."
Taeho pointed at the empty return lane. "Delivery successful. Zero losses. Zero civilian confinements."
Sera, her right arm still immobilized, logged the time command authority was returned. Hyeonju sent out the driver's contract objection procedure first. On the remote screen, Eunha only confirmed that her rest timer had ended and checked the two patients' recheck results.
Not one of the six had held the original token alone.
Mina laid her finger over the seal button.
She glanced at Dojin once.
"No closing line this time."
She pressed it.
